Milwer Gwilim Braith, veteran of the Crusade
Astride his beloved Molli, the favorite cadier of his youth, Milwer Braith does his best to readjust to civilization. Deprived of the full use of his right leg by a Royalist machine gunner, he finds it impossible to return to farming or a normal life. While quiet and courteous to his fellow quar, Gwilim finds himself shunned all the same, for he is an unknown in this age of brutality - a veteran of the Crusade, returned without a pine coat. He rides across the March unceasingly, seeming just another cripple without hearth or home, but secretly reporting all he sees to Yawdryl Gan.
